The other day the rubber airhose nevertheless failed, right at the base of the pump, where it is permanently clamped to the air outlet. This product worked just fine for a little less than two years. The rubber in the hose had simply degraded, perhaps from vibration or heat. I used it for some light tire inflation (bikes, motorcycles, cars) at home. I took very good care of the pump and never ran it for more than a couple of minutes at a time, never pulled it by the hose, etc. Unless I want to spend a long time trying to jury-rig a repair, I'd say that this baby is finished. Too bad Bon-Aire couldn't have spent a few cents more on better quality rubber.
The replacement arrived and I used it in a similar fashion - inflating an air mattress and inflating my car's tires. It worked well even though it felt flimsy. I originally bought this two years ago (January 2008). I followed the recommendation religiously: allow it to cool down for at least 10 minutes for every 10 minutes of continuous use. A few days short of its one-year warranty, it died. Bon-Aire was good about sending a new one (provided that I cover the $10 shipping cost) when I called. Today the replacement died, just about one year after it arrived. I'm done with Bon-Aire and will seek a higher quality product that I can get more than a year's use out of given how little I use it.I should know better: you get what you pay for.
Went to fill the tires the other day and just got a hissing noise with no air. I don't write many reviews, but I felt it necessary to write one for this air compressor/inflator. Looks like the compressor is bad. I bought this product so we would have something handy to use when our car tires got low. I would say that we got about 10 uses out of it over the 20 months that we've owned it. This inflator saved us a couple of times, but I would not recommend it. I'm going to look for something more reliable on Amazon.
It just bit the dust. Not very durable when I am only using it on the average of once a month.
It works great when it is working. It pumps air pretty quick and I can give 2 to 3 lbs.
I received this air inflator as a gift in May 2008. However, this unit failed on me after 20 months of service.
of air to a tire in less than 30 seconds. I typically use it once a month and handle it with care to avoid over heating by turning the unit off when I am not pumping air to the tire.
I don't think I have used it in a way to cause it to over heat either. The unit just have a short life span.
I got this unit about a year ago, and used it several times until it produced terrible smell and broke. This is my second air compressor that I bought, chinese made. I am so dissapointed that the industry cannot produce a decent air compressor.
